Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule


We welcome the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a new Medicare Initiative for eligible children aged 2-17 years that provides up to $1,000 in benefits to the child for basic dental services.

Examinations
X-rays
Teeth cleaning
Fissure sealing
and General Restorative dentistry
Many of these services have claiming restrictions.

A child’s eligibility for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule is assessed by the Department of Human Services.
A child is eligible if they are aged between 2-17 years at any point in the calendar year and receive a relevant Australian government payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A at any point in the calendar year.

Eligibility is determined each calendar year.

Families or teenagers will be notified of eligibility by letter, starting in early 2014.

You can access CDB Schedule as many times as necessary throughout the calendar year – up to $1000. However, some services have restrictions on how many times or when they can be provided. Your dentist will be able to advice you on the services required for your treatment.
