Patients at Tindale DentalCentre will now be able to receive EMS Airflow GuidedBiofilm Therapy-as apart of their periodontal management and maintenance. This utilises innovative Swiss technology providing a minimally invasive yet high powered scale and dental prophylaxis.
What is biofilm?
Biofim also known as plaque is a film that coats the tooth containing a variety of disease causing bacteria. The bacteria within oral biofilm has been linked to damage of the teeth and surrounding oral structures, causing gingivitis and periodontal disease. When left untreated the biofilm will calcify forming a visible tartar on the tooth. From this the EMS was developed in collaboration with researchers and dentists to create a system targeted harmful biofilm.
Why GBT?
GBT is a highly innovative method of removing both biofilm and plaque. A high powered stream of air and water containing a specialised cleaning solution is delivered targeting plaque on the tooth and gums. Able to clean regular teeth, crowns, implants and brackets, EMS is an effective clean for everybody. It is through patented airflow technology the EMS can remove stubborn plaque without the use of less effective sharp instruments for a deep yet painless clean.
